A silver medal for Italy in the number of Michelin-starred chefs. In fact, Italy ranks second only to France in terms of the number of stars indicating a restaurant's excellence. With the unveiling of the 2026 Michelin Guide in Parma, the peninsula affirms its status as a center of international culinary excellence. Contributing to this near-record are 15 Michelin Three-Star establishments (including the newly awarded La Rei Natura by Michelangelo Mammoliti at the Boscareto Resort in Serralunga d'Alba, Cuneo province), 38 Two-Star restaurants, and 341 One-Star venues. There are 394 Michelin-starred chefs in total, with 22 new establishments earning a Michelin star. Among them, Cracco Portofino's young chef Mattia Pecis, 29, stands out.
