First, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between EDGE Group, a prominent leader in advanced technology with a focus on defense, and Leonardo, a globally recognized aerospace, defense, and security enterprise, in June of this year. This agreement affirms the parties' intention to establish a joint venture (JV) in Abu Dhabi, building upon their longstanding collaboration. Subsequently, the two companies announced an additional measure toward attaining this common objective. They have completed a preliminary assessment of technology transfer efforts and market potential, as well as identifying the broad governance concepts for the joint venture. At the Dubai Airshow 2025, the parties inked an agreement under which they will work toward the joint venture's inauguration in 2026. Roberto Cingolani, CEO and General Manager of Leonardo, stated: "This new milestone, which comes after months of focused work by the partners, proves our mutual knowledge of the added value we can create together, paving the path for even more intense collaboration. The integrated expertise within our UAE operations across multiple advanced technology sectors, which we have identified and meticulously assessed, enables us to deliver highly competitive solutions to the target market. We are consequently tremendously motivated to strive toward the next level of partnership". Currently being evaluated are activities such as design, development, testing, industrialization and manufacturing, sales and leasing, full lifecycle support and training for the JV's products in the UAE, intellectual property rights, and professional training for the local workforce. The products shall be promoted within the UAE and subsequently distributed to designated export markets. The spectrum of solutions to be examined will be selected from those proposed by Leonardo, encompassing sensors, systems integration, and platforms.
