“Dear customers, we inform you about the permitted time at the table". The sign on the counter at Bar Pasticceria Novanta in Turin's Crocetta area reads: 15 minutes for coffee at the table, 20 minutes for breakfast and a snack, 45 minutes for lunch, and 60 minutes for the aperitivo. It concludes by expressing gratitude to customers for their cooperation and understanding, particularly considering that the establishment is situated in a busy area near the Polytechnic University. The same sign was posted in the other two locations on Corso De Gasperi and Corso Racconigi, and it went viral online, prompting controversy on social media. Some support the owners’ initiative, noting that displaying a sign about table time limits is better than removing cups or applying pressure in other ways. However, the vast majority oppose it. There is also debate over the fact that more time is allowed for an aperitivo than for lunch. The city is divided.
