Chiara Ferragni has personally addressed the court as the trial over her charity-linked promotions continues in Milan. The influencer told the judge she had always acted in good faith and denied personally profiting from the campaigns now under investigation. The case focuses on the marketing of a limited-edition pink Christmas cake produced by Balocco and on Easter eggs sold by Dolci Preziosi. Both products were advertised as supporting charitable causes. Prosecutors argue that consumers were misled into believing a portion of each purchase would go to charity, when donations were in fact fixed sums unrelated to sales volume. For the prosecution, the promotional message was therefore deceptive and caused financial harm to buyers. Given Ferragni’s enormous online following, the court is also examining whether her influence amplified the damage. Prosecutors have requested a prison sentence of one year and eight months. Ferragni also mentioned her past donations in court, including the fee she gave to a women’s support organization after appearing at the Sanremo Music Festival in 2023. Defense lawyers insist the charges will be disproven and that their client’s innocence will become clear during the final hearings. A verdict is expected soon.
