“The security situation in Lebanon was well known months ago, when preparations for the trip began. All necessary measures and precautions have been taken". This was how Matteo Bruni, Director of the Holy See Press Office, answered journalists' questions during the Vatican Press Office briefing announcing Pope Leo XIV's first apostolic journey, scheduled in Turkey and Lebanon from November 27 to December 2. When asked about the vehicles the Pontiff will employ for his numerous journeys to the two countries, the Vatican spokesman stated, "The most suitable vehicle will be selected based on the circumstances". Leo will meet individuals, organizations, and stories. He will engage in private discussions with Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Joseph Aoun. He will extend greetings to civil, religious, and interreligious leaders. He will visit mosques and churches constructed both centuries ago and in the 1990s. He will visit the Turkish Diyanet, the Presidency for Religious Affairs, and participate in prayers at the Port of Beirut in remembrance of the over 200 deaths caused by the 2020 explosion.
