Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Turkey concluded yesterday. In the morning, the Pontiff departed the Apostolic Delegation to proceed by automobile to Istanbul's Armenian Apostolic Cathedral, where he was greeted by the patriarch. Following the gift exchange, blessing, and final hymn, the Pope blessed a commemorative plaque near the Cathedral's entrance. He then went to the Phanar to participate in the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Church of Saint George. During his visit, the Pope commemorated the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council, highlighting the significance of the Nicene Creed as the shared foundation of Christian faith. "It is from this common apostolic faith that we must draw to restore unity between the Church of Rome and the Eastern Churches", he declared, expressing his optimism for a communion rooted not in dominance but in the mutual exchange of gifts in the spirit of the Gospel.
