These would be the reasons why Italian teenagers, when they are in crisis—sad, lonely, or anxious—turn to artificial intelligence for comfort. And 41.8% do so. The proportion increases among adolescents who seek it for guidance on significant decisions related to their emotions, education, or employment. This is because artificial intelligence has become an essential component of young people's lives: more than 92% of individuals aged 15 to 19 utilize it, compared to only 46.7% of adults. Nearly one-third of teenagers (30.9%) use it every day or almost every day, 43.3% a few times per week, and 7.5% never use it. This is a snapshot from a Save the Children survey. Among AI users, 63.5% preferred to interact with one of the accessible tools rather than with a human person. However, 8 out of 10 of these kids indicate they are happy with their connections with friends and even with their parents, with 78% saying they are satisfied or very satisfied. Teens rely heavily on their cell phones, with 38% admitting they check them frequently in the company of friends or family, and 27% feeling anxious when they don't have one. More than one in every eight people is hyper-connected, with 37% spending time on adult pornography websites.
