"This marks the commencement of a genuine transformation within our Ministry and, by extension, the broader Public Administration. Effective January 1st, a restructured Farnesina will be implemented, characterized by a dual leadership structure encompassing both political and economic dimensions". Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani used these lines to present the new Farnesina reform. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will thus have two souls, one political and one economic, each reflecting two Deputy Secretaries General. A new Directorate for Growth and Export Promotion shall be established concurrently with the Directorate for Political Affairs and International Security. These will be supplemented by a new Directorate for Cybersecurity, which will address emerging cyber risks, as well as a strengthening of the Directorate for Services to Citizens Abroad and Migration Policies. A Simplification and Coordination Unit will be established within the General Secretariat, tasked with gathering feedback and offering new solutions to streamline and simplify services for individuals and businesses. The change will also have an impact on the diplomatic competitive exam and training for all Farnesina officials. By extending the program to encompass all master's degree programs, the Farnesina seeks to expand its recruitment pool and attract top talent, through an ongoing recruiting expansion that has been underway in recent years.
