At the Hi-Drive Final Event in Brussels, Stellantis presented a suite of advanced automated-driving technologies designed to improve vehicle safety and performance in complex, real-world environments. Hi-Drive is the European Union’s flagship program for advancing vehicle automation and expanding the conditions in which automated systems can reliably operate. Stellantis demonstrated two “Living Lab” vehicles. The Peugeot e-2008 features a rooftop module packed with sensors - eight lidars, nine cameras, four radars, and V2X connectivity - to gather 360-degree data for testing automation in dense urban settings. A MY2018 Maserati Levante showcased V2X communication and high-definition mapping used for hazard alerts, dynamic signage recognition, and other functions that support safer automated driving. The company emphasized that future highly automated and driverless vehicles will rely heavily on robust connectivity. Stellantis is testing short-range and 5G communication to ensure cars can exchange data with other vehicles and with road infrastructure, an essential step toward the next generation of automated mobility.
