Construction and infrastructure, hospitality, and utilities are the industries driving Italian companies' hiring projections in the first quarter of 2026. Employers are generally optimistic about the start of the new year, citing international expansion and the launch of new initiatives, according to the "ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey". Between January and March of next year, net employment projections are +22%, up 4 points from the previous quarter and 3 points from the same period in 2025. This average reflects substantial growth in construction and real estate (+36%), hospitality (+33%), and utilities and natural resources (+28%). The primary reason for hiring is business growth, which is reported by 30% of organizations, followed by expansion into new markets (26%), and finally by the launch of fresh projects (24%). 21% of companies want to improve workforce diversity, while one in every five organizations (20%) is creating new roles as a result of technology innovation. Medium-sized enterprises have better chances, and the Northeast is the most dynamic region of the country.
