In 2025 the tourism sector reached a historic peak, with a total of 476 million overnight stays (+2.1% compared to 2024, +10 million). Foreign overnight stays increased by 4.1%, while Italian overnight stays declined by 0.1%. The average duration of stay increased to 3.5 nights (from 3.3 in 2024), and expenditure by international visitors rose by 5.6%, amounting to €57 billion. These numbers were revealed at the Confindustria Alberghi Annual Assembly, which took place at the National Council for Economy and Labor (CNEL) in Rome. During the meeting, the annual awards for excellence, vision, and transformation in Italian hospitality were presented. The Ferruccio Fabri Award for Best Style Icon Hotel was awarded to Lario Hotels, a historic establishment that has embodied a distinct style of Italian hospitality for over a century: deep roots, contemporary design, and recent expansion that mixes aesthetics, identity, and entrepreneurial vision. The Roberto Wirth Award for Hotel Personality of the Year went to Paolo Barletta, CEO of Arsenale S.p.A., a major figure in the new era of luxury investing.
