It will be a game changer for bishops and priests in the world's most remote regions, and a great convenience for those working in the Roman Curia or dioceses: the digital Pontifical Yearbook, successor to the Liber Pontificalis (the medieval collection of papal biographies), and today an essential tool for anyone seeking official information on the Dicasteries of the Roman Curia, dioceses, religious institutes, nunciatures, and so on. As of 8 December, the Yearbook is available online. The initiative serves multiple audiences: the Dicasteries of the Roman Curia, which require current information on a daily basis to perform their duties; the Apostolic Nunciatures, which thereby gain a strategic resource; the Episcopal Conferences, which can explore the ecclesial realities of their respective territories in greater depth; religious institutes, pontifical universities, research centers, and academic institutions, which are able to access data consistent with official communications from the Holy See. Journalists, who have consistent access to certified content. Specifically, the new platform allows for continuous updates of information such as appointments, changes in roles, and modifications in ecclesial structures. Previously, one had to wait for the publication of the new printed edition, whereas these changes can now be made visible quickly. Another key feature is the option to conduct advanced searches by name, diocese, position, nation, or institutional region. A subscription system will ensure constant access and daily data updates.
