It was March 16, 2024, when Lisa Vittozzi won the pursuit in Canmore, Canada, effectively securing a Crystal Globe that she would claim the following day. Twenty-one months later, following a challenging season wholly confined to the infirmary, the Italian athlete achieved success at the World Cup once more, doing so in the same event—the final race of the second stage of the biathlon season. The Sappada native was simply faultless on the snow at Hochfilzen (Austria): no errors at the shooting range, and incredible speed on skis. Her rivals were left far behind. When she crossed the finish line after 10 kilometers, the clock read 28:31.5. Sweden's Anna Magnusson (28:42.9) finished second, with Norway's Maren Kirkeeide (29:11.0) taking third. Dorothea Wierer placed ninth, Rebecca Passler 27th, and Samuela Comola 40th. "I raced perfectly", Vittozzi admits. "It's a meaningful performance after a difficult year last year. I worked so hard and diligently, knowing that one day it would all be worth it. Today was my day, and the final lap was special. Returning to the top of the podium is a dream come true for me. I'm loving every day of this new season and having fun: I knew these results would come".
