Seven cars have made it to the final round of The Car of the Year competition, which since 1964 has selected the most interesting car of the year. The award is coordinated by eight European publications, with the jury comprising 60 journalists from 23 nations. Italy has six jurors. The cars were put through a variety of tests, including the grueling "moose test" at 50 km/h, which assesses the car's reaction to a sudden obstacle that requires sharp braking and double dodging, and the slalom between cones at 30 km/h, which assesses the car's responsiveness when changing direction continuously. Another key test involved different types of road surfaces, from the dreaded Belgian cobblestones to various cobbled and undulating tracks. The cars' general acceleration and braking performance was examined on Piedmont's Langhe roads, which included ups and downs, rapid turns, and short straights. After the test, the international jury chose the following finalists: Citroën C5 Aircross, Dacia Bigster, Fiat Grande Panda, Kia EV4, Mercedes CLA, Renault R4 E-Tech, and Škoda Elroq. The winner will be announced during the Brussels Motor Show on January 9th.
