Savino Del Bene Scandicci defeated Prosecco DOC Imoco Conegliano 3 sets to 1 to win the Women's Club Volleyball World Championship for the first time in its history. The Club Volleyball World Championship is the tournament featuring the winners (and some finalists) of the main continental club competitions: it was the first time two Italian teams faced each other in the final, confirming the world leadership of Italian women's volleyball. Conegliano had won three of the last five editions and was considered the favorite for this final as well, but Scandicci played a top-level match and deservedly won. This is Scandicci's third trophy in history, following a CEV Cup and a Challenge Cup; During the Club World Championship, held in Brazil, they lost only one set in five matches, the final against Conegliano. For the Venetians, who have dominated Italian, European, and world volleyball for years, this is the second final loss this year, following the Italian Super Cup loss against Milan.
