In 2025, 16.4% of companies with at least 10 employees use at least one artificial intelligence technology, marking a significant increase compared with 8.2% in 2024 and 5% in 2023. Larger companies experience more substantial growth in absolute terms, increasing from 32.5% in 2024 to 53.1%, thereby widening the disparity with small and medium-sized enterprises, whose usage has nonetheless doubled, rising from 7.7% to 15.7%. This is according to an Istat, the Italian National Institute of Statistics, paper titled "Business and ICT". A lack of necessary skills is preventing AI adoption in over 60% of organizations that have analyzed but not implemented AI initiatives. Management software adoption increased by about 7 percentage points over 2023, reaching 56% of enterprises with at least 10 employees in 2025. In 2025, 68.1% of organizations purchased intermediate or advanced cloud computing services. AI technology is used by 53% of companies in IT and other information services (36.7% in 2024 and 23.6% in 2023), 49.5% in film, video, and television program production, music, and sound recording, and 37.3% in telecommunications (27.6% and 13.3% in previous editions, respectively).
