Over the past four years, Italy has grown the most in the world in terms of hosting international scientific conferences. This is the result of research conducted by the specialized firm GainingEdge and presented at the Campidoglio in Rome as part of the 2025 edition of the Italian Knowledge Leaders (IKL). The event saw the participation of over 50 Italian Knowledge Leaders: academics, researchers, clinicians, and professionals with senior roles in global scientific associations. These figures, with their intellectual capital and international standing, make it possible to attract major scientific conferences to Italy. The research shows that our country leads the way in terms of international scientific conferences hosted, recording a 19.98% increase with 204 events, compared to the negative results of its main European competitors. But the most significant data concerns Knowledge Leaders: in the last four years, +396 Italians have joined the boards of international scientific associations, much more than Spain (+295), the United Kingdom (+265), Germany (+241) and France (+216).
