Riello returns to Italy. Ariston Group announced it has reached an agreement with the American company Carrier Global Corporation to acquire 100% of Riello Group at an enterprise value of €289 million. The transaction is not just a transfer of ownership, but an industrial policy move that brings one of the thermomechanical industry's historic assets back under Italian control, thwarting the assault of the Chinese giants. According to reports, the financial offer made by Asian giants Haier and Midea was superior. Yet, it wasn't the price that closed the deal, but rather "country risk." Carrier's top management, who, according to Corriere della Sera, held a confidential meeting with Adolfo Urso, Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, understood that the sale to Beijing would expose the operation to the Golden Power. The fear was "production desertification": the Chinese would use Riello's historic sales network to flood the market with Asian products, circumventing tariffs and CBAM regulations. Ariston guaranteed continuity. Riello, which forecasts revenues of €400 million and an adjusted EBITDA of €35 million for 2025, brings to Ariston approximately 1,150 employees (half in Italy) and a strategic production structure that includes plants in Legnago and Volpago (Veneto), Torun (Poland), Shanghai, and Mississauga (Canada), as well as R&D centers in Lecco and Angiari.
