The miracle of the liquefaction of the blood of San Gennaro has taken place again in Naples. The announcement was made yesterday, December 16, by Monsignor Vincenzo De Gregorio, Abbot of the Chapel of the Treasury of San Gennaro. The occurrence of the prodigy was greeted with applause by the faithful and tourists gathered in the Chapel. This December 16 miracle marks the third occurrence of the year and commemorates the event of December 16, 1631: tradition maintains that San Gennaro answered the prayers of the people and preserved Naples from the eruption of Vesuvius that threatened it. "Naples, like many towns of the past and now, had misery, diseases (which today we call pandemics), and wars", remarked Monsignor De Gregorio, "but it also had Vesuvius. The risk that Naples becomes reduced to pizza, mandolin and San Gennaro is always great, so let us set aside all fetishism". The ampoule was taken in procession into the chapel so that everyone could see it. At the end of the religious celebration, Monsignor De Gregorio announced the complete liquefaction of the blood of San Gennaro.
