Significant departures for the end-of-year holidays: a total of 19.27 million Italians are expected to travel. This is according to the results of a poll performed by the Tecnè research institute for Federalberghi, Italy's main employer organization in the tourism and hospitality sectors. Among these, 7.86 million individuals will travel for the Christmas holidays, while 4.5 million will depart for New Year's Eve; 990,000 will travel for Epiphany, and an estimated 5.87 million Italians will undertake a "long holiday", encompassing at least two holiday periods. For 91%, Italy will be the preferred destination, while the remaining 9% will travel abroad.
