In preparation for the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the transportation system is significantly strengthening. Trenitalia and Busitalia, companies of the FS Group, are enhancing their rail and intermodal services to ensure faster, more comprehensive, and integrated connections to all competition venues, from airports to Alpine valleys. This concrete commitment focuses on quality of service and accessibility for athletes, spectators, and the surrounding areas. A symbolic and strategic connection will debut on the weekends of February 7th to March 15th, 2026: the Frecciarossa train will reach Milan Malpensa. The intercontinental airport will be directly connected to the Northeast, from Venice to Udine, strengthening Malpensa's role as the international gateway to the Games. Alongside the high-speed train system, the multimodal offering is growing: with a single ticket, it will be possible to reach Cortina d'Ampezzo, Cadore, Val di Fiemme, and Livigno by combining train and bus connections from major cities such as Milan, Rome, Naples, Florence, Bologna, and Padua. Regional services ensure widespread coverage of the Belluno area, the gateway to Cortina, while new road connections complete the intermodal plan, with direct services from Northern Italy's high-speed stations and airports. Great attention is also paid to the domestic Olympic system: for athletes, staff, and accredited participants, charter trains, dedicated buses, and thousands of reserved seats on the high-speed trains are available daily, particularly on the Milan-Venice and Milan-Trento routes.
