The Pope invites families and communities to create the Nativity scene, so that it may continue to “be part of Christmas". "Christmas will be here in a few days," Leo XIV addressed the crowd, "and I imagine that in your homes the setting up of the Nativity scene, a moving representation of the Mystery of Christ's Nativity, is being completed or has already been completed". From here comes Prevost’s hope that “such an important element, not only of our faith but also of Christian culture and art, may continue to be part of Christmas, to remind us of Jesus who, by becoming man, came ‘to dwell among us’". The invitation comes on the eve of December 25 and fits into the debate on the presence of Nativity scenes in schools or public institutions. Recently, in Genoa, the Municipality decided not to install the Sacred Representation at Palazzo Tursi, substituting it with a Santa Claus village. The opposition in the municipality promptly protested, calling it "the cancellation of Christmas".
