Leonardo – formerly Finmeccanica – has won two new contracts for projects in US airports. The company, under the leadership of Roberto Cingolani, has executed two contracts totaling more than $120 million for the enhancement of baggage handling systems at Houston Hobby Airport in Texas and Melbourne Orlando Airport in Florida. These systems leverage automation solutions developed at the Genoa Sestri Ponente industrial facility. Both initiatives are founded on technology integrated with IoT and AI, developed in Genoa, enabling more rapid and accurate baggage handling in comparison to conventional systems. This approach, the company clarifies, "minimizes the risk of damage and loss, enhances punctuality, and streamlines the entire process for both passengers and operators".
