Robert Francis Prevost, a Chicago native, born seventy years ago, is known to use a smartphone and routinely corresponds with associates and acquaintances through email and WhatsApp messages. It was also known – visible when his white cassock sleeve is revealed – that he wears an Apple Watch on his wrist. It was also revealed that he spends a few minutes every day before bed playing Wordle and Words With Friends, both online word games, particularly with his brother John Prevost, as a method to distract himself and stay in touch with his family. Finally, it was known that the new Pope, even as a bishop and cardinal, frequented social media and was used to scrolling through the news. It is now known that Leo XIV, who already speaks fluent English, Spanish, Italian, and French, as well as Portuguese, studies German at night with Duolingo, a popular language-learning app. The story broke when another user discovered a profile with the name Robert and the exact same Twitter account as Prevost's before becoming Pope, @drprevost. This was later confirmed by his brother John Prevost, interviewed by the National Catholic Reporter.
