Over six million Italians will travel for Christmas, demonstrating their willingness to travel despite ongoing economic instability. Eighty-three percent of passengers will stay in Italy, and 25% will choose destinations close to their home region, with an emphasis on easy access. One million will instead choose to visit European capitals or non-European nations. According to data published by Confturismo-Confcommercio, 60% of the journeys will be brief, lasting no more than one or two nights. 29% will stay in hotels, while 40% will choose to stay at the houses of friends and family or in second homes. The ten most popular destinations are mountainous areas, accounting for 20% of preferences, followed by seaside resorts and cultural centers, which continue to be favored choices during the Christmas season. 59% of Italians will travel with a partner, 36% with children, and 11% alone. The projected average cost is approximately 390 euros per person.
