Thousands of dinosaur tracks were recently discovered in Valdidentro, near Livigno and Bormio, in the Stelvio National Park in Lombardy. The first traces discovered in this location date back to the Late Triassic period (210 million years ago) and are located on a vertical rock face. They measure up to 40 centimeters in width, with some exhibiting four visible claws. The animals were most likely plateosaurs, herbivores with long necks and elongated bodies that could reach 10 meters in length and weigh up to four tons. "After thirty-five years of activity, I never anticipated encountering such a remarkable discovery, and precisely within the region where I reside", stated Cristiano Dal Sasso, paleontologist at the Natural History Museum of Milan.
