Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has addressed Italians with a Christmas message focused on identity, tradition and hope. In a video shared on her social media channels ahead of the holidays, Meloni spoke from in front of a Nativity scene, revisiting what she has previously called the “Nativity scene revolution.” According to the prime minister, the Nativity does not impose beliefs but preserves values and strengthens cultural roots. “A nation that knows its roots is not afraid of dialogue or of the future,” she said. Her message was directed to everyone: those spending Christmas with their families, those working, those at peace and those facing difficulties. Meloni stressed that the Nativity scene speaks to believers and non-believers alike, conveying values such as dignity, responsibility, respect for life and care for the most vulnerable, principles she said have shaped Italian society and should be defended. She concluded by wishing that Christmas might bring “a little light, calm and strength,” encouraging people to look ahead with confidence while remembering those in need and remaining aware of who they are. “Happy Christmas Eve and Merry Christmas to all,” she said.
