The Lombardy derby between Milan and Como will be played at San Siro, not in Perth as initially planned. Confirmation came from Serie A president Ezio Simonelli, speaking on Radio Anch’io Sport on Rai Radio 1. Milan’s elimination from the Coppa Italia has freed up space in the calendar, allowing the league to reschedule the match at the earliest available date, subject to Inter’s Champions League commitments at the Meazza. The game was originally scheduled for the weekend of February 7–8, but preparations for the opening ceremony of the Milan–Cortina Winter Olympics, set to take place at San Siro on February 6, make it impossible to host a Serie A fixture just days later. With no available weekend slots, the match will have to be played midweek. The most likely option is Wednesday, February 17. Only if Inter are drawn to play a Champions League playoff at home on that date would the fixture be pushed back by a week, to February 24, a scenario considered unlikely given the Nerazzurri’s current standing in the group stage.
