Confcommercio estimates that about six million Italians will be on the move for New Year’s Eve. Eighty percent will stay within Italy, while 20% travel within their own region. Top destinations mirror Christmas preferences: mountain resorts, cultural cities, and seaside locales. Trentino-Alto Adige, Tuscany, and Campania are the most popular regions. The average planned spending is around €410 per person.
For those celebrating abroad, 1.3 million Italians are heading overseas, mainly to France, Spain, Germany, and the UK. Restaurants are preparing for a busy night as well. According to Fipe-Confcommercio, 4.6 million diners are expected in over 76,500 participating establishments, a 9.7% increase in spending compared to 2024, totaling €439 million.
