Remittances sent by foreign workers in Italy reached €9 billion in 2025, up 6.4% from the first semester and 40% since 2005. Bangladesh is the top destination (€1.4 billion), followed by Pakistan, Morocco, the Philippines, Georgia, India, Romania, Peru, Sri Lanka, and Senegal. Rome and Milan lead in contributions, accounting for €3.9 billion—almost half of the total. While remittances make up only 0.38% of Italy’s GDP, they highlight the economic impact of foreign workers, who represent 8.8% of national wealth.
