The longest cruise voyage ever has set sail from Genoa aboard an MSC cruise ship. This marks the seventh MSC World Cruise, and this year will be approximately 10 days longer than prior editions: an exceptional 132-day journey visiting 46 destinations across 33 countries. On this itinerary spanning over 40,000 nautical miles (74,000 kilometers), MSC Magnifica will host 2,300 cruise passengers of 60 different nations as they explore the world's most remote places, some of which are only accessible on such a voyage. The record-breaking cruise commenced in the Mediterranean, with stops between Marseille and Barcelona. MSC Magnifica will then cruise under the Pillars of Hercules and make a stop in Funchal before sailing to the southern Caribbean, where they will visit Barbados, Colombia, and Costa Rica, before crossing the Panama Canal, which allows ships to overcome a height difference of about 27 meters above sea level to reach the Pacific without circumnavigating South America. Once in the Pacific, the ship will travel up the coast, passing Guatemala and Mexico before arriving in San Diego and Los Angeles. From there, they will cruise to Hawaii, Polynesia, Samoa, and Fiji. They will then travel to New Zealand and the Australian coast before making stops in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. The journey will continue through Vietnam, Singapore, and Malaysia. Finally, passengers will visit a number of must-see islands in the Indian Ocean before circumnavigating the Cape of Good Hope and stopping in Cape Town, Walvis Bay, and Cape Verde. At this point, the ship will return to the Mediterranean and, on May 16th, will conclude its round-the-world journey, arriving in Genoa.
