In 2025, electric vehicle sales in Italy continued to rise. According to data published by Motus-E, 94,230 fully electric vehicles (BEVs) were registered in the country in 2025, representing a 46.1% increase from 2024, when the total was 64,480. The market share also grew from 4% to 6.2%. By the end of 2025, the Italian fleet consequently comprised 365,091 electric vehicles. The Tesla Model 3 was the best-selling completely electric model, selling 7,114 units, followed by the Leapmotor T03 (6,242) and Tesla Model Y (5,676). The Dacia Spring and the BYD Dolphin Surf complete the top five list. The Citroën C3 ranks sixth with 4,129 automobiles, followed by the BMW IX1 (3,041), Ford Puma (2,577), Jeep Avenger (2,485), and Renault 5 (2,329). Despite these encouraging figures, there is still a long way to go, particularly when compared to other European countries: the most recent available data for the period January-November 2025 shows that the market share of electric vehicles has reached 19.6% in France (up 2.5 points from the same period in 2024), 18.8% in Germany, 8.8% in Spain, and 22.8% in the United Kingdom.
