The Turin Prosecutor's Office has seized the Red Tower of Sestriere, one of the most prominent landmarks in the famous Piedmont ski resort, over alleged fire safety concerns. This step resulted in the immediate closure of the three-star hotel, which was managed by the Aurum Hotels company.Recently, law enforcement and firefighting personnel carried out an inspection within the building, which disclosed that the fire prevention systems failed to meet current regulatory standards. A notice has been displayed at the hotel entrance informing guests of the closure and advising them to contact the adjacent Torre Bianca Duchi d'Aosta for check-in and assistance. The Red Tower is situated in Piazza Agnelli, just meters from the slopes and in the heart of Sestriere. It was built in the early 1930s at Giovanni Agnelli's request and constructed by engineer Vittorio Bonadè Bottino. For decades, it served as a symbol of Alpine architecture and Italian winter tourism. Along with the White Tower, it symbolized the postwar economic boom and the rise of skiing as a popular activity. The building contains approximately eighty rooms and provides direct access to the ski facilities, which has made it extremely popular with generations of guests.
