“Buen Camino,” the new comedy starring Checco Zalone and directed by Gennaro Nunziante, has made Italian cinema history. Just three weeks after its release, the film has surpassed €65.6 million in ticket sales and attracted more than 8.1 million viewers, officially becoming the highest-grossing Italian film ever.
The previous record was held by “Quo Vado?”, another Zalone hit, which has now been overtaken. In the all-time Italian box office rankings, “Buen Camino” is currently second only to James Cameron’s “Avatar,” underscoring Zalone’s remarkable impact on the national film industry.
These results go far beyond commercial success. The film confirms the enduring appeal of the Zalone–Nunziante partnership, which continues to set the benchmark for modern Italian comedy. More importantly, “Buen Camino” has managed to bring people back into theaters in large numbers, drawing audiences of all ages and backgrounds at a time when cinema attendance remains fragile.
