Staying overnight at a three-star hotel or an Airbnb can be remarkably costly for a weekend for two in the venues hosting the Winter Olympic Games, beginning February 6th. When compared to an average weekend in January 2026, the price difference is significant. This information is based on a survey conducted by Altroconsumo, which indicates that lodging in Cortina and Valtellina remains highly costly during Olympic weekends: in Cortina, the average price exceeds €2,000, representing a 261% increase compared to a typical weekend in January; in Valtellina, the cost is nearly €1,700, reflecting a 437% rise. Milan is the most economical location, with a total costing of approximately €300. Altroconsumo also evaluated transportation. According to the poll, some destinations are not inexpensive and have an impact on overall spending. The good news, compared with January prices, is that there are no major fare increases for round trips. Nonetheless, ticket costs remain high. For example, a return trip for two from Milan to Cortina costs €216, from Rome to Cortina €338 and from Turin €318. The cheapest destination from Milan is Tirano station in Valtellina, where a return ticket costs €50.
