In the end, the inevitable happened: the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) has decided to exclude Trapani Shark from the Serie A championship, bringing weeks of difficulties for the Granata team to an end. The decision was made following a series of matches conducted with a limited roster, culminating in the game against Trento, which ended 5 minutes and 49 seconds into the first quarter, when only a single player was available. The national sports judge described the circumstance as "a clear alteration of competitive equality", declaring Trapani's lineup ineligible to compete and calling the match an effective forfeit. Based on this, all of the team's games played to date have been canceled, resulting in changes to the standings: Trento loses the points earned against Trapani, while Udine and Napoli advance into the top eight, securing qualification for the Coppa Italia Final Eight scheduled for February 18-22. In addition to the restriction, Torino was fined €600,000 and President Valerio Antonini was barred from active duty for three months. The Federation also indicated that it will take legal action in response to the club's press releases and public statements, which described the federation’s decisions as “unjust". Antonini, for his part, stated that having lost faith in sporting justice, the matter will now be pursued before the ordinary courts.
