Brazilian soccer club Palmeiras looks beyond the pitch with its new 2026 kits, reconnecting the team not only with its fans but also with its historical roots. Founded in 1914 by Italian immigrants as Palestra Italia, the club is a symbol of the Italian-Brazilian community in São Paulo. Now, in partnership with PUMA Brazil, Palmeiras has introduced a new range of HOME and AWAY kits that honor that historic legacy while incorporating contemporary sustainability initiatives. The new outfits made their debut on Saturday against Portuguesa in the Campeonato Paulista, São Paulo's state championship. By 2026, the complete collection will be composed of 100% recycled polyester, combining tradition and environmental consciousness while reflecting the club's progressive vision. The home jersey preserves Palmeiras' characteristic green as the primary color, but it now features green and red side stripes and a unique U-neck collar in the colors of the Italian flag. The away jersey is mostly white, with a straight polo-style collar in green, white, and red, and two thin vertical stripes—another reference to the Italian tricolour. A little Italian tricolor near the collar on both kits honors the club's Italian-Brazilian founders from more than a century ago. The inaugural ad, titled "Wherever there is a Palmeiras fan, there will be Palmeiras", was shot in Italy and tells the story of Italian immigrants who crossed the Atlantic to Brazil in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The video links the aesthetics of the Old Continent to contemporary Brazil and recalls a founding legend: founder Luigi Cervo is said to have claimed that Palmeiras would endure as long as at least one loyal supporter remained—a sentiment that has persisted through wars, social transformations, and 111 years of history. "The pages of courage and resilience written 111 years ago by the founders of our eternal Palestra Italia continue to inspire us", club president Leila Pereira said, highlighting the emotional significance of the new jerseys.
