In 2025, cybersecurity became more difficult, with sophisticated assaults, ransomware, online fraud, and crimes against individuals affecting citizens' lives and critical services. The Postal Police and Cybersecurity Unit (Polizia Postale for la Sicurezza Cybernetica) conducted 51,560 operations, including 293 arrests, 7,590 reported individuals, and 2,157 searches. These operations primarily concentrated on safeguarding individuals, especially juveniles, in the digital environment; securing the assets of individuals, enterprises, and institutions against online financial crimes; addressing cyberterrorism; and defending essential information infrastructure. There were 2,574 cases related to child pornography and solicitation, resulting in 222 arrests. The Commissariato di Polizia Online, the Postal Police's official website, provided an ongoing and accessible service for reporting cybercrimes and spreading information and advice on online security. The website attracted 5.2 million visitors and approximately 76 million hits. Over 25,000 information requests and 94,000 reports (related to phishing, social networks, and cyber attacks) were processed by specialized operators, who also provided 232 direct public assistance interventions and 26 community alerts.
