A simple, heartfelt tribute: “Hello, President.” This was the banner displayed by the Curva Fiesole, in transit at Bologna’s Dall’Ara stadium, honoring Rocco Commisso, Fiorentina’s chairman who passed away yesterday, during the pre-match minute of silence.
The Fiorentina squad paid homage during warm-ups, wearing commemorative jerseys with the number 1 and “Rocco” printed on the back. On the field, players wore black armbands, and before kick-off, they approached the fans’ section to receive a standing ovation. Some staff members also donned commemorative shirts.
During the minute of silence, a few voices from the Bologna curve were quickly drowned out by applause from the rest of the stadium, while Commisso’s photo was displayed on the big screens. It was a poignant moment that united the team, fans, and audience in remembering a president who marked an important era in Fiorentina’s history.
