Foreign tourism in Italy has set a new high: in 2025, international visitor numbers are predicted to exceed 271 million, the highest ever recorded, representing a 6.7% rise over the previous year. Tourism spending is expected to reach €57.1 billion, underlining the sector's importance as a driving force in the national economy, according to figures published by CST - Centro Studi Firenze for Assoturismo Confesercenti. Regionally, the South and Islands are seeing the biggest increase (+8.7%), followed by the Northeast (+6.7%) and the Northwest (+6.5%). Central regions are seeing a 5.7% increase. By product category, art cities are drawing 84.5 million visitors (+6.4%), followed by seaside resorts with 72.7 million (+6.4%), lakes luring 34.5 million (+6.7%), and mountain regions with 31.1 million (+8.5%). Positive results are also seen in rural and hilly areas (+5.8%), spa towns (+5.9%), and other areas of interest (+6.9%).
