Market analysis derived from NielsenIQ BookData data does not dissuade publishers, who project growth in 2026, partly attributable to government initiatives to stimulate demand, notably the €60 million in acquisitions by public libraries. Over the last 10 years, reading has climbed across all age groups, but more than 15 million individuals have not read or listened to a book in the last year. The territorial divide remains significant: the South and Islands, home to 34% of the Italian population, account for only 30% of readers and 19% of books sold.
