Mattia Furlani promptly delivered an exceptional performance to kick off the 2026 season. At the World Indoor Tour Silver meet in Paris, the young Italian secured the long jump victory with an exceptional 8.33 meters, capping off an impeccable performance of consistency and solidity. His first jump was cautious at 7.70, followed by the decisive leap that secured him victory. From there, he performed a series of high-quality jumps: 8.18m, 8.22m, 8.27m, and a final 8.20m, all without a null. A sequence that confirms an already advanced level of form, despite it being the start of the indoor season. Behind him finished Bulgaria’s Bozhidar Saraboyoukov, the current European indoor champion, who achieved a final height of 8.15m after recently surpassing his previous personal best of 8.26m. Sweden's Thobias Montler took third place with 7.97m. The winning leap of Furlani, who is only twenty years old, is an important sign. It brings him within six centimeters of his outdoor personal best and four centimeters of his indoor best, as well as providing him with the best world mark of the year. This start promises well for subsequent tournaments, particularly the World Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland, where the Italian will be expected to defend the title he won in Nanjing last year.
