Italy and Europe are global leaders in the robotics industry. This is corroborated by a recent study conducted by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, which examines the sector's strategic function and anticipates a substantial increase in growth in the years ahead. At the end of 2024, global robotics trade was worth $80 billion, with the EU leading the way, followed by the United States and China, respectively. At the same time, the United States stands as the primary importer, with Europe and China following closely behind. Italy—second-largest producer of industrial robots and second-largest market in the EU by installations, as well as the sixth-largest exporter worldwide—is an excellence supported by specialized production activities and a complex innovation ecosystem, placing it among the top ten countries in the world for the number of patents.
