Following the death of fashion icon Valentino Garavani, attention now turns to the fate of his vast personal fortune. While the future of the Valentino brand had long been settled with its sale to Mayhoola and Kering, the distribution of the designer’s private assets remains unclear.

At least five possible heirs have been mentioned, including his partner Vernon Hoeksema, longtime associate Giancarlo Giammetti, nephew Piero Villani, Carlos Souza and his sons, as well as the Valentino-Giammetti Foundation. The estate includes villas, castles, artworks, a yacht and properties across Italy, France, Switzerland, London and New York. Only the opening of the will will reveal how the designer chose to pass on the empire he built.
