The market for religious products in Italy is growing, also thanks to the Jubilee effect. Italian enterprises in this area are expected to number roughly 3,300 (up 10% from 2024), comprising manufacturers, distributors, craftspeople, artists, and design studios. Total revenue for 2025, including production and supply chain, is estimated to be nearly €800 million (+15%). Exports are also increasing, thanks to widespread demand for Made in Italy products. This is according to Devotio, Italy's sole trade fair and the world's largest dedicated to devotional products and services for the religious sector, which will hold its fifth edition at BolognaFiere from January 31st to February 3rd. According to Devotio, the most popular devotional items are unquestionably rosaries and souvenir jewelry such as bracelets, medals, and medallions. Crucifixes, constructed of any material, and religious-themed statuary, including 3D-printed ones, are also essential. Chalices, reliquaries, and chasubles are among the most popular liturgical artifacts. Despite the small number of new churches under construction, the liturgical furnishings industry is very active, with orders for confessionals and pews. In terms of exports, Italian items are supplied throughout Europe to all major sanctuaries, as well as ecclesiastical communities in nations with strong Christian roots. Made-in-Italy items are also widely sold over the world, including in South America (particularly Brazil and Mexico), the United States, Africa (Nigeria and Ivory Coast), and Asia (the Philippines and South Korea).
