Italian organic honey is arriving in the 800 McDonald’s restaurants across Italy. The US multinational's agreement to purchase 8 tons of acacia honey from Italian organic producers was presented to the Ministry of Agriculture in Rome. McDonald's will acquire and distribute 2 million sachets of Italian organic acacia honey over the next year to boost the beekeeping industry. This initiative will be backed up by a communications campaign combining McDonald's restaurants, social media channels, and major national media outlets, with the goal of raising awareness about the value of Italian organic honey and the importance of bees in our ecosystem. After marketing a variety of Italian PDO products, including Grana Padano, Parmigiano Reggiano, Asiago, Speck Alto Adige, Balsamic Vinegar, and Trentino apples, the famous U.S. brand is now opening up to organic products as well, starting with another product of excellence: honey.
