In an interview with La Repubblica, former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon sharply criticizes NATO, the European Union, and Italy’s political leadership. According to Bannon, the United States provides massive security support without receiving proper recognition. “If you don’t want it, we’ll withdraw it. Without us, you would have no defenses,” he said, even suggesting the U.S. could pull its team from the Olympic Games.
While claiming affection for Italy and Rome, Bannon described Italy’s political class as “the worst in the world,” accusing it of stealing from its own citizens. He also announced plans to revive the Trisulti project, envisioning an academy where “millions of students will learn right-wing politics and communication.”
Bannon was equally critical of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, labeling her a “globalist” lacking the economic and military resources to back her positions on NATO and Ukraine. “No one in the U.S. takes her seriously anymore,” he said.
Turning to unrest in the United States, Bannon accused local authorities in Minneapolis of refusing to enforce federal immigration laws. He called for a hardline response, including arrests of local officials and antifa activists, invoking the Insurrection Act and even the possible deployment of the military to restore order.
