Puglia is the predominant olive-growing region in Italy, with 330,800 hectares of olive oil-producing land, which is equivalent to 31.5% of the national total. The region hosts sixteen thousand olive-growing businesses, 720 mills and oil plants, and around 20,000 workers, of whom nearly 18,000 are employed in olive cultivation and about two thousand in the processing phase. Overall, the Italian agri-food business exported about €67 billion in the first eleven months of 2025, up 5% from 2024. A medium-high 2025-26 olive oil campaign and increased production compared to the previous season, fueled primarily by the southern regions, further support this positive outlook in extra virgin olive oil.
