Associazione Sportiva Roma hasn't been a good investment for its American shareholders, at least not yet. Between share purchases and subsequent payments to the club, the Friedkin family has invested €1.048 billion on the capital's soccer team: €199 million to acquire the club, €25.9 million for the takeover bid, and €824 million in management. The Friedkins are a U.S. entrepreneurial family, known in sports for owning AS Roma since 2020 and Everton FC since 2024. Dan Friedkin (born 1965), president and CEO of the Friedkin Group, has developed an empire worth more than $4 billion, mostly through Toyota distribution. Not everything is lost in Rome: the success of the investment depends closely on qualification for the Champions League—crucial for revenues—and the construction of the new stadium, whose works are expected to begin in the coming months.
