Italy opens the 2026 Six Nations in the best way, defeating Scotland 18–15 at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico. The Azzurri grabbed control of the game in the first few minutes, courtesy to an energetic start and two quick tries: Lynagh scored in the seventh minute, followed by Menoncello, who excelled at breaking past the Scottish defense. Garbisi finished the job with perfection off the tee. Scotland tries to get back into the match with Dempsey’s try and Russell’s kicks, but Italy closes the first half ahead 15–7. Scotland increased the pressure in the second half and drew the margin to 18-15 with Horne's try. However, Quesada's team defended with order and determination in the final minutes, resisting the Scottish onslaught. A valuable victory for Italy, who now look forward with confidence to their away match against Ireland on February 14th in Dublin.
